Christmas is the worst... !!

Not that I HATE Christmas mind you.. I LOVE it..  really.. but I make myself crazy trying to shop for folks.  Luckily my Mom lets me know what she wants so she is taken care of by my brothers and myself.  Shopping for my kids is a totally different story...  I have NO idea what to get for them.  When they were little... it was so easy...  RJ wanted the sci-fi stuff...  anything neat and cool..   and thanks to my friend Misty he was also interested in all the gross stuff...  Chad??  He was the easiest of all.  As a small child (meaning up til a few years ago) give the kid a few stuffed animals and he was a happy camper.  As long as he had his animals and his art supplies all was right in his world.  Last year "Santa" brought him a box of nothing but art stuff, construction paper, glue, scissors, and tape.  He was in heaven.  He made only one request...  NO CLOTHES...   He said he was tired of "Santa" bringing clothes...   but "Santa" always brings clothes..  New dilemma.

Now for this year...   I got nothing..  ziltch...  nada...  Oh..there is the big family present...    AND the required clothes from "Santa"... but other than that..??  I'm tapped out..   my tree will have like 5 boxes under it...   I'm looking at taking the packages of underwear and wrapping them separately just so it looks like there is STUFF under the tree..  5 boxes just doesn't cut it..   my Mom will have a fit..

HELP???

Mr. President, I have an idea!!!

So, President Obama selected a bipartisan deficit commission that is supposedly going to make all of our money problems go away.  These people are going to study the matter at hand and decide on what new problems they can create to remedy the ones already in place.  Deficit commission co-chair Alan Simpson and his fellow co-chair Erskine Bowles said their plan included suggestions to eliminate certain targeted tax breaks, reduce the federal workforce by 200,000 people and alter Social Security, among other things. The Liberals have been particularly critical of the proposals to alter Social Security, which would lessen the payouts some Americans receive.  Now, since our Congress already seems to feel that the Social Security fund is their own personal piggy bank that they can raid at will, the payouts to the citizens already receiving Social Security is already at the minimum, I'm not sure how much more these seniors can take, and while we're at it, add 200k more people to the unemployment line, why not?  Do the Reps really think that people that make over $250k are really going to notice an extra little bit coming out of their pay check??  Really??

Personally, I feel that the President doesn't need to get all these folks with prestigious degrees and R's and D's after their names to figure out how to take care of this problem.  Bring in the average American citizen, the Average Joe, the Monday morning quarterbacks, we can solve this problem in no time, and will most likely do it for the cost of little more than a burger and some pop, bring in the pizza and beer... it's going to be a late night!!!

I have a few suggestions myself, most of which I'm fairly confident our beloved elected officials won't like one itzy bit, but you know what? I'm not really in the mood to care, my Unemployment Insurance is about up and if I wasn't a Veteran I would probably be a total mess right now.

1) Instead of Congress being allowed to give themselves, or vote down, a raise, we as a country should hold an election every year and the American public should decide if our Congress gets a raise or not.  They work for us, not the other way around, and for too long our Congress has been  running the show with our money, with little or no consequence being shown for their job performance.  Let the American public show with an actual vote of YES or NO as to whether they get their annual raise or not.  The last time I checked MY boss decided if I got a raise or not, I wasn't the one that made that decision...  hmmmm.  Personally, my vote is NO!!!

2) Instead of being given benefits and a pension for life after only serving one term in Congress (House or Senate), benefits and a pension is only given for the amount of time served.  For example, if you serve a six year term, you get your benefits for six years after you leave office.  This will save our federal government millions in revenue.

3) Put a freeze on ALL earmarks that don't serve a specific public good purpose, and getting a Senator on board for a vote isn't a good purpose.  And please, stop being so arrogant that you have to have something with your name on it, good grief, no really cares who you are in the grand scheme of things.

4) The members of the SEC that oversee the contracts of these high paid CEO's need to be fired without batting an eyelash.  OH MY GOSH!!!  These company's tank..  TANK..   lose EVERYTHING and the bosses still get a huge payday and just walk away, at the point that these company's go under those contracts should be NULL AND VOID..   WHAT THE HECK is everyone thinking??  Is there not one single brain in SECworld that in noway thinks that that wording should be in a contract?  'Ol Bernie..  He didn't in anyway get what he deserved by being able to hide away in "Federal Poundmeinthe***" prison, whereas I think the ENRON guy Jeffery Skilling totally got a raw deal and that was only because than Kenneth Lay died (or did he?)..  on VACATION..  really???

5) I really wish our Congress would allow for average citizens to have face time with a panel.  You know, like they do when they have those hearings and the Senators are asking all those redundant questions that the Senator across the room just asked because they didn't like the answer.  I want these elected officials to look in our faces and see our disappointment and disgust in their behavior.  These arrogant individuals, I hesitate to call them people because they somehow lose their humanity when they take that oath of office, honestly think and believe that they are elected because they are the BEST.  They think that they are the ones with the best plans, the greatest speeches, and the winning personalities.  They truly believe that they hold that office because WE, the gullible, honestly believed that behind their bright shining smiles there wasn't a gloating person screaming FOOLS!!!

What those same individuals fail to really see is that they are the fools, they are the gullible ones.  We didn't elect them because they had the best ideas or the brightest smiles.  This candidate's family wasn't any cuter than that one, and "Oh, I'm going to vote for them because he has three pretty blond grand babies, aren't they precious!" No, what these officials fail the realize is that every two years the American public goes into those little voting booths and plays the largest mass game of eenie meenie minie moe and they were elected because they happened to suck a little less than the guy they were running against.  There is no BEST, it's more a matter of who isn't the WORST!!!

Last, but definitely not least on my list of opinions, I want for our "Mr. President" to do what he said he was going to do, keep the words that he promised and be the transparent President that he said he would be.  The British expression "start as you mean to go on" fits this very nicely.  Mr. Obama had a plan, he was going to bring a change to our way of doing things, to our government's way of doing things, but instead he has become just like every other President before him, out to make his name and to put himself in the history books as the man to got everything done.  People, especially those that feel they have something to prove, fail to understand that sometimes...making sure that you do things the right way is the most important part of doing anything.  Mr. President, so far you have failed to live up to your end of the bargain, you have disappointed even those that had the most faith in you.  In your run to live up to your personal goals you failed to live up to the needs of the masses.  I just hope that the next two years are better, but somehow I don't have much hope with having the the Congress split like it is, but I will pray for you!!

Oh, and I'm still waiting for my $1000!!!

Peace and Love!!!
